US cyber official cites strong security at Apple, criticizes Microsoft and Twitter

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Director Jen Easterly pointed out in a speech to Carnegie Mellon University on February 27th that “Apple is taking ownership for the security outcomes of their users,” highlighting the 95% use of MFA by its iCloud users compared to a quarter of Microsoft enterprise customers and less than 3% of Twitter users. She was quoted as saying the latter statistics were “disappointing.”

She did say that the transparency in offering these statistics was an encouraging sign. They want to see more of the larger tech firms adopting more stringent security practices and more accountability for security lapses both large and small.
