ICANN75 requires tracking app

As reported by DomainNameWire, anybody considering attending ICANN75 will need to download a COVID tracking app on their phones in order to attend in-person events when it begins in Kuala Lumpur on September 17th.

Malaysian COVID regulations require visitors to have the MySejaterah application installed on their smartphones before they are permitted entry into the country. This is a contact-tracing measure commensurate with other COVID-prevention measures that Malaysia has taken to stem the most recent Omicron wave. Masks are still required indoors by law, and anybody testing positive for COVID must quarantine for seven days, however those who test negative on a supervised test may be released from quarantine after four days.

As DNW notes, these requirements are little different from those of the previous ICANN meeting that took place in The Hague. Remote participation is still possible for anybody who wishes to attend, but pre-registration is required.
